Basil H. Alkazzi Foundation Scholarship Awards
Royal College of Art, London
A long-running scholarship programme established in 1986 to support emerging painters at postgraduate level. The award was founded to provide time, space, and financial support for artists to develop new bodies of work away from external pressures. Endowed in perpetuity, it remains one of Alkazzi’s most significant educational legacies.
The recipients are annually selected on the advice of a panel, which has included Halima Nalecz, George S. Whittet, Elizabeth Blackadder, Martin H. Bayer, Max Wykes-Joyce and others.
Recipients span multiple decades and include artists such as Hurvin Anderson, Kay Donachie, Emma Talbot, Ian Kiaer, Christopher Orr, Rannva Kunoy, Matthew Burrows, Terence Birch, Sally-Anne Butler, Richard Burton, Lisa Cathro, and many others.
